About Carla

Carla is an experienced healthcare management consultant with over 25 years of experience. She started her career in Physician Operations and advanced to Chief Administrative Officer for large physician groups, where she was responsible for clinic operations, revenue cycle, facility operations, human resources, and financial management. After spending 15 years in Physicians Operations, Carla transitioned her focus to revenue cycle and financial operations, where she managed Acute and Ambulatory end-to-end Revenue Cycle Operations.

Throughout her career, Carla has:

  • Identified and implemented employee engagement initiatives that resulted in a 5% reduction in staff turnover within one year and reduced CFB (Candidate for bill) from 22 days to 3 days within 6 months for a large hospital organization.
  • Led project management efforts to integrate newly acquired physician practices and joint venture arrangements, including the transition of lockbox closing/replacement, as well as Accounts Receivable management and work-down.
  • Assessed contract terms and performance of all PFS vendors, including Early Out, Bad Debt, and Contract Variance, to negotiate rate reductions while simultaneously managing the vendor to improve performance by setting or reestablishing service level agreements.
  • Presented and communicated current issues and denial trends to C-suite leaders to accelerate cash, reduce denials, and improve KPIs.
  • Conducted coding and CDM assessments and identified revenue opportunities, as well as strategies and automation to prevent denials.
  • Managed a hospital CBO under a Corporate Integrity Agreement. Worked with Chief Compliance Officer to develop OIG Workplan and submitted required annual reports to OIG.
